About us
Before opening our picture framing shop in Squamish in early 2022, we offered professional framing services from our workshop in the Netherlands. Petronella brings a wealth of experience and craftsmanship to every project. She studied at the Dutch School of Artisan Framing and honed her skills while working with several renowned Dutch framers. Her training included two enriching internships, where she developed a deep appreciation for traditional framing techniques. Petronella was trained to the highest standards of the profession, following the Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG) guidelines from the UK.
Custom art framing in Squamish
At FRAME IT we offer custom picture framing for almost anything: paintings, etchings, photographs, textiles, 3D objects, and cherished sports memorabilia. Each piece is treated with the care and respect it deserves. We design frames tailored specifically to your artwork, using conservation-grade techniques and archival materials to protect and preserve it.
Fine art framing is more than just choosing a beautiful frame, it’s about understanding the value of the piece, using non-invasive mounting methods, and ensuring long-term preservation with acid-free materials. (P.S. We also craft stunning custom mirrors!)

Matboards
Designing the perfect picture frame for your piece of art or object usually starts with selecting one or more matboards. We may choose a 100% acid free all rag mat, or get a little bit more creative and choose from a variety of colours or fabrics.
Frames / mouldings
Make your choice out of many wooden or metal frames displayed in our shop. We join each and every frame by hand. Looking for something special? Ask us about a custom colour matched, or closed corner frame.
Artglass
We'll help you choose from several high quality Artglass and acrylic options, offering the highest clarity possible and the best UV protection. With Artglass anti-reflective glass, you'll see every detail, as clear as if there weren’t any glass at all.
Mounting
Depending on the type and value of what you’re framing, anything from Japanese hinges to stitching may be used to attach your piece to the backing material. We will discuss the appropriate mounting options. For works of museum value we use original handmade Japanese Kozu paper.
Fitting and finishing
In addition to your mounted object or art, the glass and optional mats are cut to fit. If the item is dimensional, shadowbox walls may need to be built to create deeper sides on the frame. The entire 'package' is finally assembled and closed with a dust cover or European backing board, and hanging hardware.
